Retail

Companies don’t get much bigger than Wesfarmers and Woolworths. These retail rivals are two of the largest companies in Australia. If you’ve set foot into any grocery, homewares, hardware, liquor or stationery store recently, chances are it was owned by one of these guys.

Looking at Wesfarmers? Look at: Bunnings Warehouse, Coles, or Bi-Lo, Liquorland, Bi-Lo, Vintage Cellars, 1st Choice Liquor Superstore, Myer, Officeworks, Kmart and Target.

Or prefer team Woolies? Check out: Woolworths, Food For Less, Caltex, BWS, Dan Murphy's, David Jones and Big W.

Fast Food

Flexible hours and great group environments are the biggest positives of working in the fast food industry. The list of chains in Australia are endless, here’s just a few that hire all year round:

McDonalds, KFC, Hungry Jack’s, Domino’s and Subway are some of the biggest players in fast food, with some restaurants offering 24-hour services.

Crown Resorts: Melbourne and Perth residents, this one is a huge employer for you (one of Australia’s largest single-site employers in fact). Crown hires people in entertainment, hospitality, corporate and gaming roles.

IT and Telecommunications 

Tech-heads unite! If you’re a little tech-savvy, here’s who’s hiring:

Apple: you’ve probably heard of these guys (and chances are you’re reading this on something they’ve made). They have stores all over the world and are renowned for their great culture and team environment.

JB Hi-Fi: If you’re not fussy about your gadgets, JB could be the place for you. They sell everything from TVs, laptops, games and consoles, tablets, DVDs… the list goes on.

Telstra, Optus, Vodafone, TPG: These telco giants don’t just do phones, but internet, pay TV, and a lot of other entertainment products.
