MAX Donation to Help Launceston Farmers

The team at MAX Employment Launceston have banded together to help farmers affected by the recent floods.

More than $3,000 was raised by the MAX Employment staff, which has been donated to the Tasmanian Rural Relief Fund set up to provide assistance to Tasmanian farmers in the wake of hardship or disaster.

Relieving Rural Business Tasmania CEO Susan Nolan said the donation will go a long way with assisting local farmers and their families to rebuild their lives.

MAX Employment Launceston Team Leader Arvind Gunasekaran said seeing the devastation in the community compelled the MAX team into action, and the team was thrilled to be able to help out the farmers.

“So many people lost possessions, some lost livestock and pets, and some people lost their lives. Dealing with the aftermath of it all has been really hard for a lot of people,"

“The impact on the farmers would be huge, and that has a big impact on the rest of the community as well with produce," Arvind said.

Arvind said the effect the disaster had on the community was apparent to the MAX team each day. “The most stressful part of it all was seeing the impact it had on everyone: personal belongings were gone and morale was really down,” he explained. “A lot of our job seekers had been really affected, and we worked with other organisations to refer them to support services, just to help them access additional support if they needed it.”
