On May 20, 2014 MAX Employment opened a new office in Varsity Lakes, Queensland, servicing job seekers under the Disability Employment Services – Disability Management Service contract. MAX Employment Managing Director, Deborah Homewood was joined by Federal Member for McPherson - Karen Andrews MP, local job seekers, employers, community organisations and representatives from the Department of Social Services to officially open the new premises.
Ms Homewood spoke about the benefits of employment and likened having a job to having ‘a ticket to the dance’ – because of the endless opportunities employment could lead to.
Ms Andrews agreed with this, adding "it’s important to acknowledge the contributions of workers with disability, regardless of whether they’re working fulltime, a few days a week or a couple of hours a week."
As part of MAX Employment’s commitment to changing lives, the organisation made a $1500 donation to Gold Coast Disability Advocacy, a small non-profit community based organisation providing independent, individual advocacy to vulnerable people with disability living on the Gold Coast.
The new MAX Employment Varsity Lakes premises is located at 221 Christine Avenue, Varsity Lakes and can be contacted on 07 5520 3788.
